Market-Wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS) is one of the most ambitious reforms the UK electricity market has ever undertaken – and we’re proud to be supporting one of the first suppliers in the country to migrate meters as part of the first wave.
From 4th February, Unify Energy becomes the third UK supplier – and the first small supplier – to start moving its portfolio into MHHS. Behind the scenes, we’ve been working closely with their teams for months to ensure Unify Energy’s systems, data flows and operational processes are ready for this next era of settlement.
For us, this milestone isn’t just a technical achievement. It’s a demonstration of what strong supplier–partner collaboration can deliver when both sides commit early and share a clear vision for a smarter, more transparent energy market.
Building the Billing Foundations for MHHS
MHHS fundamentally changes how suppliers must handle consumption data, settlement processes and exception management. That means billing systems need to evolve – and not just incrementally, but also structurally.
Working with Unify Energy, we’ve delivered:
End‑to‑end readiness for half‑hourly data
We’ve upgraded ingestion, validation and processing pipelines to ensure the system can handle actual half‑hourly consumption data at scale – at the heart of the MHHS missin.
New settlement logic and data flows
MHHS introduces new roles, new data exchange requirements and new governance. Our platform now supports:
- Updated settlement calendars
- New data validation rules
- Faster anomaly detection
- Improved exception workflows
Seamless integration with Unify Energy’s operational processes
We’ve worked hand‑in‑hand with their operations, metering and data teams to ensure that billing, settlement and customer processes remain stable throughout the transition.
A controlled, low‑risk migration path
By preparing early, we’ve helped Unify Energy avoid the “deadline rush” that many suppliers will face later in the programme.
Why Supporting Early Movers Matters
Unify Energy’s decision to migrate early reflects their belief that accurate data leads to fairer outcomes and that small suppliers can lead innovation. We share that belief.
Early movers like Unify Energy play a critical role in:
- Proving the MHHS model works in real‑world operations
- Identifying challenges before the industry hits peak migration
- Demonstrating that modern systems can deliver modern settlement
- Setting a benchmark for others to follow
Our job is to ensure their billing and settlement systems can support their mission to lead the way.
A Partnership Built for the Future of Settlement
MHHS is not a simple regulatory tick‑box. It’s a structural shift that will define how electricity is measured, priced and manage. Supporting Unify Energy through this transition demonstrates how we value deep collaboration, technical rigour and a shared commitment to doing things properly.
As more suppliers begin their own MHHS journeys, we’re ready to support them with the same level of expertise, stability and forward‑thinking system design.
Unify Energy’s early migration is a major milestone for the industry – and we’re proud that our platform is helping power it.
